Frequently asked questions
What is pressure saddle?
The pressure saddle is a silicone, soft overlay that slides over the center strap of a Mitchell shoe. It acts as a kind of shock absorber, allowing you to distribute the pressure of the middle strap over most of the top of the foot to relieve the child from discomfort, possible pain or to help heal a wound.

Not. It is not a good treatment route. If the shoes are too big, the heel (the position of which in the shoe is crucial) does not fit properly: it protrudes from the shoe insert, hangs over it. This translates into the effects of treatment – there is a regression. Too big shoes also affect the condition of the skin and are often the cause of very deep wounds, the treatment of which takes a long time.
Read about HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SHOE SIZE ?Can the invoice be issued for a foundation / association?
Yes. We can invoice the foundation or association. For this purpose, it is necessary to find out about the rules of issuing invoices for non-governmental organizations in the foundation or association, because each foundation regulates these rules itself. Can I buy bigger socks?
Not. Socks should be like gloves: well-fitting and close to the skin. Read about the features of good socks in our KNOWLEDGE BASE in the article: GOOD SOCKS .Can I “jump over” the size of my shoes?
The first shoes should fit extremely well. The next sizes are selected in relation to the size of the foot (width and length). Sometimes “jumping” the size, eg from 1 to 3, will not be a problem, and sometimes it will be too big a difference and it will be necessary to buy shoes in size 2. The issue of “jumping” the size is also dependent on the time of treatment and the condition of the foot.
Read HOW TO CHOOSE SHOE SIZE ?Can I cut the rail if it is too wide and will it void my warranty?
If necessary, the rail should be cut. Unfortunately, it then loses its guarantee.
Read ABOUT RAIL WIDTH .Can I use a pressure saddle from the very beginning?
Not. The pressure saddle, i.e. the overlay absorbing the pressure of the middle belt, should be used in exceptional situations, such as a wound on the back of the foot. It should not be used “on a” to protect against a red mark on a belt.

Not. The use of only the shoes (without the crossbar) does not give the desired results and leads to a RETURN to the defect. This is because the feet must be kept in Abduction (which prevents the feet from falling into the wrong position) and in Dorsiflexion (which permanently stretches the Achilles tendon, which is too short in children with this defect). The correct effects of the treatment of congenital clubfoot are obtained by using the PONSETIEG O METHOD along with all its indications, including the use of J DEROTATION RAILS .Does my child need to wear two shoes and a brace?
Yes. According to the assumptions of the PONSETIEG O METHOD , after the phase of correcting the foot with plaster dressings and after the tenotomy procedure (when it was necessary) and removal of the plaster after tenotomy, the child begins to use the DEROTATION RAIL . It consists of two shoes and a crossbar to keep the child’s fully corrected feet in the correct position, preventing BOLT AND defect. Only thanks to the use of a derotation splint (two shoes + crossbar) are the correct effects of treatment of this defect possible.Should my child wear socks when wearing a brace? What are the best socks?
Yes. Your child should wear socks when wearing a splint. A child’s foot spends most of the time in the shoe and is prone to all kinds of skin problems. To prevent them, use socks. They should also be used so that the foot in the shoe remains dry.
Read about the features of good socks in our KNOWLEDGE BASE in the article: GOOD SOCKS .Is the pressure saddle sold in pieces or as a couple?
The pressure saddle pad is sold in pieces. When you need two covers, two should be purchased. Remember that it comes in two sizes: Small , which fits Mitchell boots up to and including size 3, and Large , which fits boots up to and including 4.Should shoe buckles be on the outside or inside of the child’s foot?
Buckles should be on the inside of the foot. Although Mitchell’s shoes have the same structure and theoretically you can put the right shoe on the left foot, and the left one on the right foot, the buckles on the inside allow the belt to be properly tightened (tight enough), and also do not catch on anything while playing or crawling .Do you issue invoices?
Yes.
Invoices are always issued for the purchase of shoes, splints and optionally (at the customer’s request) for the purchase of accessories: pressure saddles, pads, belts, etc. electronic document. Environmental protection is close to us.How long does it take to process the order?
The order fulfillment time is given for each product. On average, it is from 1 to 5 working days from the time of placing the order. Some products require a longer lead time, e.g. 3 weeks for Mitchell shoes in non-standard colors (standard colors: gray, blue, pink).
The delivery time of the products can be found in the tab: COSTS AND DELIVERY TIME .How to adjust the splint to make it comfortable for the child?
The correct size of the rail is very important. It affects not only the child’s comfort and functioning, but also maintains the foot correction.
The splint should be as wide as your child’s shoulders. Find out more by reading the article: HOW TO ADJUST THE RAIL WIDTH and what is DEROTATION ?How do you know when it’s time to change your shoes to bigger ones?
The need to change shoes for larger ones is indicated mainly by two parameters: the distance from the toes to the end of the shoe , the position of the heel in the shoe .
When your child’s longest toe is on par with the white silicone of the shoe, it’s time to change.
When the child’s heel, which has been very well in the shoe so far, suddenly begins to hang and stick out of the shoe insert – it’s time for a change.
The shoe can also be changed when you can see that the foot is no longer fit in it and the foot “flows out” from the shoe and seems to be squeezed.
The next size of shoes should also be “on standby”, when suddenly it turns out overnight that the size used is small (this happens during height jumps). What data is needed to issue an invoice?
Depending on the purpose for which the invoice is to be issued and for whom, the necessary data for its issuance depends on it.
To issue an invoice for a private person, it is necessary to provide the following data: name and surname of the child’s parent / guardian, home address, correspondence address (if different from the home address).
To issue an invoice for a company (etc.), it is necessary to provide the following data: company name, address, tax identification number.
If the invoice is to be issued to the address of the foundation / association, check with the foundation / association about their guidelines for collecting invoices. What are the sizes of the splint protectors?
The protectors come in 3 standard sizes.
Extra Short: 13 cm
Short: 16 cm
Large: 20 cm
These are calculated for the maximum narrowed rail. What are the Mitchell Brace Sizes?
The Mitchell splint comes in 3 sizes:
Extra Short: 17.3-25 cm
Short: 20-30 cm
Long: 23.5-37.8 cm
The Mitchell splint is adjustable in width, so you do not have to buy the splint every time, when the shoe size is changed. For children who are starting their adventure with the frame, the Extra Short frame is the most suitable size.
Read more about the MITCHELL RAIL and WIDTH ADJUSTMENT .When should we buy a splint and shoes?
You must take care of the purchase of equipment for your child immediately after the tenotomy !!! This is the time when the child has the last cast on and it is the optimal time to buy the right shoes and a derotation splint. The exception here is when the child has a plaster change after tenotomy and the doctor will take a measurement.
Think about buying the equipment immediately after the tenotomy or right after the toddler is re-plastered, because leaving the topic at the last minute is one of the worst ideas, due to the possibilities. The assumption: “something will definitely be found” is a bit unrealistic and smacks of irresponsibility, because then there is usually a race against time and limitations and the nerves take over. Why do I need a rail protector?
MITCHELLA RAIL PROTECTOR (PONSETI) is a great solution to protect the splint from damage, but also to protect certain parts of the parent’s body from bruises caused by the splint. A colorful bumper is also an excellent gadget that builds the child’s trust in the equipment – color always allows us to look at something in a slightly “friendlier” way. For the parent who has trouble accepting the splint in his child, a colored bumper covers the splint a bit and makes it easier to accept because it is colored.
